Hawaii- Eat
We had some nice food on this trip. Here are some places we ate at:
The breakfast and dinner buffet at the hotel
The Cheesecake Factory
The Shrimp Truck
The Food court at the International Market Place
The Swap Meet
The PCC
The Famous Hukilau Cafe
KFC
Burger King
The breakfast and dinner buffet at the hotel: Not the best food, but it's just downstairs and you get to feed the pigeons or watch a show while you eat. Not bad . Plus, it's 50% off with our hotel room.
The Cheesecake Factory: One of our favorites: John discovered this Carmel cashew chicken dish, so he had it twice. Jade and I loved their Miso Salmon and BangBang Chicken with Shrimp :-)
The Shrimp truck had us taste some of the best shrimp we've ever had. Garlic butter shrimp... Yum. The truck was right next to the shrimp farm. So it's guaranteed freshness :-)
We tasted fresh coconut juice at the Swap Meet and I have to say it's not my thing, neither John's. It tasted nothing like coconut. Maybe we just got a bad one. Got Jade a shaved ice. It fell on the floor. Tragic!!
The International Market Food court is our favorite. John had number 23 three, a chicken noodle dish everyday for four meals. Jade and I tried Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Hawaiian and we loved them all.
The PCC cafeteria was awesome!!! I loved their oysters and crabs and had probably four or five plates of them :-)
We had to go to the Hukilau Cafe when we were in Laie. It was not what they showed in the First 50 Dates. John looked it up and the one they used in the show was actually built on a ranch close by. This one we went to just happen to have the same name. And the food was less than satisfying. But it was cheap. And they did have a poster of the movie on their wall :-)
Hawaii- North Shore
The North Shore was nice in that it's got fewer people and better sands. We went to Shark Coves for snorkeling, but the wave was too big that day to swim out to the Ocean and the visibility underwater was really low. So John was the only one who tried it.
Then we went to Sunset Beach and took some great pictures.
Hawaii- Waikiki Beach
Waikiki Beach is our favorite resort in Hawaii for two reasons: it's a block away from our hotel, and Jade LOVES it! Jade loves swimming in the ocean and playing with the sand. It took her only half an hour to warm up to the ocean on the first day. She's obsessed with the ocean. Every morning she wakes up, she wants to go to the ocean!
The water was nice and warm. Jade would get so excited every time a wave knocked her down. She screamed so hard everyday that she almost lost her voice when we came home :-) Our least favorite part of the beach is the sand. They get everywhere, and they are hard to get rid of. Jade had to take a bath every time we came back from the beach to wash off all the salt and sand. But she loved the baths. She could play in there for up to an hour. The secret is the little mini soap bars the hotel provides. She's never played with soap before, so she had so much fun playing with it. Only a couple times she would forget and rub her eyes with her soapy hands and scream for help.
We put all kinds of sunscreen on her before we go out. So she never got sun burned (none of us did). But her arms did get tanned. I tried very hard to keep her white and pretty for the wedding pictures :-)
