John did a great job decorating for the Chinese New Year this year. It was very festive in our house before our big annual New Year Party!! We love having this occasion every year to get all our friends together to catch up. The day before we had our party, we had some friends over to have some REAL Chinese hotpot with squid and everything.
Our stove doesn't get hot fast enough. So in order to cook for a big party, John got me a deep fryer :-) It made all the difference. It cooked faster and the food is a lot tastier. I fried in the garage, and the house wasn't even smoky :-) Before the party, we had Mark and Callie over to test out the fryer. We fried doughnut, french fries, and panko avacados. Yumm!!
Oh and John got me some very Chinese dishes to put food on. They look very festive.
We were so glad to see so many of our friends and catch up with them. Jade was all dressed up for the holiday. She had two outfits, and they are both cute. She wished grandma and grandpa and everyone in China happy new year over Skype and they all wanted to give her hugs and kisses in person!
Here's the other outfit she wore. I was gonna get her a red one, but couldn't find her size. She looked so cute. The next few pictures are her dancing to the Chinese new year music :-)
