Pioneer's Day 2011

Jade's first pioneer day. We bought her a new light weight stroller. It's pretty hot pink and she LOVES it!! We pushed her around in Babys R us and she cried when we put her in her car seat to go home :-( When we got home, she still wants to be in it. So daddy pushed her around the house :-)  So cute.

When Jade woke up from her nap, we went to the Pioneer Park for some fun. We bought some food from the drive-in across the street and had a picnic in the park.
She was so good and content sitting in her stroller the whole time we were eating.
Don't worry, she's only drinking water :-) We had tereyaki beef, scones, foot-long hotdog, and shakes. Everything was so yummy. Jade was happy with her graham cracker and water in a coke cup :-)
Then we played and played.

And played more on the playground.

And we played some Frisbee with Kate. Jade was very intrigued by the Frisbee.

See the resemblance?

a Romantic evening

John's been biking at Sundance every week. One day he called me on the lift and told me he was going to take me on a date that night for the moonlight lift.
Romantic? Definitely.
We're definitely not romantic people though. We don't usually do surprises, fun dates, or anything romantic. But every once in a while, you need to spice up your life a little bit, right? :-)
So after we put Jade to bed at 8, we left her home on Megan's watch. BTW did I mention how amazing Megan is? She's made our life so much easier even with jade around. We could just leave her home and go out to eat or do things when she's asleep, sometimes even when she's awake.
Anyway but to the date night.
We stopped by Bridal Veil Falls and enjoyed the fresh air for a few minutes.

When we got to Sundance, there was a line at the parking lot. We didn't realize it was such a big event. I guess a lot of people are romantic :-)

We were the full noon lift riders :-)

It wasn't that dark yet, so we decided to walk around to kill some time. I bought John a massage here for Father's Day. So we went to look for the massage house. Never found it. But saw this gorgeous view.

And John made out with the totem pole.

He had this cool app on his phone to show him exactly where the moon was in relation to us. So we wouldn't miss it.

Then time to ride. There were people selling hot chocolate, $3 per little cup. Ya, not that romantic.

We were expecting it to be freezing on the top, but it was actually quite nice. We didn't even need to use our blanket until I took my slippers off in fear of losing them in the mountains and my feet got cold.

Here's a proof that we did see a full moon. It looks awfully small in the picture though. It was beautiful.

By the time we came down, the line was HUGE. It was already past 11pm. Crazy people. And the shuttles were still unloading people!!
This is the line for the shuttle back to the parking lot. We had to stand in the bus. Reminded me of China. Fun!

That's it. Our little romantic outing this year :-)

There goes July!

July is almost over. That means Jade is turning ONE soon!!! OMG they do grow up fast after the first few months!!! She's getting just so darn cute by day!!Here are some random things we did so far in July.

Lots of watermelons, including the yellow kind :-)

If you know John, you know he's a juice-holic. If he opens the fridge and sees no juice, he yells no food! So one morning I woke up to the above note. And I rushed to Sam's Club and stocked up for him. And that kept him happy and secure for about a week.

We enjoy our precious morning times when both mommy and daddy are home.We would go out to the backyard, water the plant, sit under the canopy, and just enjoy the fresh morning air. Our tomatoes and cucumbers are growing big!! In fact, I ate the 1st cherry tomato today. It was yummy!!
My 1st tomato this year. Yumm!!!

We made these Vietnamese spring rolls for our Chinese food night with some friends. They are so delicious. The key is the fresh lime and basil leaves and some good sauce.

Jade got herself stuck :-) Is it bad I took a picture before I rescued her?

Isn't this the sweetest thing ever!! :-)

Cute Jade on the playground!

My Mexican students recommended this little Mexican restaurant called Laura's. The food was really good! It's next to Sam Hawk, our favorite Korean restaurant. We had tacos, gordita, and quesadilla. They were all so good.

Don't be too jealous :-)

This is how daddy gets a kiss.

Jade started walking!!

Jade and Lyla. Two cutie pies.

It was raining. Daddy was crazy. We had fun!

Daddy got his dream downhill bike and is riding it as often as he has time. He discovered a trail down Squaw Peak. SO we took him up there for a ride.

Jade got her first car! Crystal really spoils her :-) She can't reach the gas yet. But she has so much fun just sitting in it playing with everything.

Daddy gave jade her first bite of  ice-cream! Fail!! But if she has to have it, Sammy's is THE place!!

She's very mobile. She can climb up and down the couch like a pro now.

Ward Luau

There are quite few Hawaiians and Tongans in our ward. Apparently a ward Luau is an annual tradition of the East Bay 1st ward. We were just in time for this year's festivity. Daddy unfortunately had to work, so mommy and auntie Megan took Jade to the party. There were so much food. I think there were more left than eaten and we ate A LOT!! I even took enough home to make lunch for the next week. We had BBQ chicken, pulled pork, salads, rolls, rice, desserts, Hawaii drinks. Everything was delicious.

After dinner, we enjoyed some performances from the youth from our ward. It was awesome. Jade even danced in her stroller :-) So cute!
