I can't believe our baby girl is already 4 weeks old! She's 3 days away from being one month old. In China, one month is a big milestone for both the mom and the baby. The mom can finally get off the bed, take off her ugly wool hat, brush her teeth, take a shower, drink cold drink, walk outside for a couple minutes, stop eating 10 hard-boiled eggs per day, stop eating oily pigfeet-soybean soup, finally get rid of the bossy mother-in-law... Let's just say that I'm SO glad I'm not in China for child-birth AND postpartum :-)For the baby, there's a "baby shower". It's really just a big banquet when every relative in the family comes over to admire the baby and have a banquet that includes 30+ dishes. They all leave gifts (money in the red envelop) for the baby and take a bunch of colored eggs (just like the Easter eggs) home. This part is fun :-)
Poor Jade is not gonna have a banquet in honor of her 30 days of fabulous life :-) She's probably gonna spend her big day on the road going back to Provo :-( At least babies love car-rides, right?

ReplyDeleteSOOO stinkin cute! I can't believe how much she's starting to take on Johns features. and mama, you look AMAZING! People like you shouldn't be allowed to leave the house within a month of having a baby so the rest of us don't feel like heifers!! that said, I'm purely joking and just want you to know you look stinkin FABuLoUs!
